Our speaker today was Lisa Kemp an Employment Solicitor at Stallard March & Edwards. Lisa provided an overview about dismissals and in particular the procedure to be followed and about the implications generally (for employers and employees) for failing to follow the correct procedure.
Lisa is routinely instructed by both employers and employees alike in relation to dismissals. Often, employees feel that they have been unfairly dismissed and so Lisa provides tailored advice to them about what options they have. Equally, employers are often faced with concerns about how to properly dismiss employees for various reasons ranging from misconduct to redundancy. Lisa ably advises a range of employers in this regard.
Today Lisa explained that there are six potentially fair reasons for dismissal and went on to explain in detail what procedure an employer should follow when faced with dismissing an employee.
Using worked examples Lisa advised about the possible consequences for employers who fail to dismiss someone fairly and in accordance with the law.
