Do we say thank you often enough?

Kim Dalton - Thursday, June 24, 2010

Thank you is a word which is so easy to say but can be severely under used, particularly in business.  Ask yourself, when was the last time you said "thank you" to a client?

We may say thank you when they place on order with us but do we also say thank you when they pay us and we receive money.

At a BNI meeting there are many opportunities to say thank you to our colleagues around the table -
1. Thanking them when they give you a referral.  Being appreciative of the work that they have done on your behalf and standing up, shaking their hand and saying the words "Thank you"
2. During our contribution section with a Testimonial.  To write or express some words of gratitude and thanks for some business done not only helps other members understand what they can do but also is a nice way of saying thank you to them for work they carried out for you.
3. Thank you for the Business Card Box - do we check the amount of business that our fellow BNI members pass us in the course of giving us referrals?   What better way to say Thank you than to mark it on the card and pop it in the box.  We may be surprised at  how much this adds up to over time.

So next time you are doing some work with a BNI member, a friend, a colleague or a new company - don't forget to say Thank you!

Thank you for reading.
