Lisa provided an overview about dismissals and in particular the procedure to be followed and about the implications generally (for employers and employees) for failing to follow the correct procedure.

Lisa is routinely instructed by both employers and employees alike in relation to dismissals. Often, employees feel that they have been unfairly dismissed and so Lisa provides tailored advice to them about what options they have. Equally, employers are often faced with concerns about how to properly dismiss employees for various reasons ranging from misconduct to redundancy. Lisa ably advises a range of employers in this regard.

Today Lisa explained that there are six potentially fair reasons for dismissal and went on to explain in detail what procedure an employer should follow when faced with dismissing an employee.

Using worked examples Lisa advised about the possible consequences for employers who fail to dismiss someone fairly and in accordance with the law.

Should anyone have any questions about today’s presentation or about employment matters generally, they should not hesitate to contact Lisa on 01905 723561 or Lisa.Kemp@smesolicitors.co.uk

The referrals were flying round the room and we have thanked each other for nearly half a million pounds worth of business this year!

The meeting started a little later than usual this morning due to the M5 being shut southbound. This gave our members a bit of extra time to arrive. We had 3 visitors and also inducted a new member - Tony Cullen of Bristol Street Motors. Welcome Tony! We hope your time in BNI is a very profitable one. There was a large amount of business thanked in the thank you for the business box and the referrals were flying around the room! We like to think we are little different at Warriors - we aim to make doing business light hearted and fun. Our Education Co-ordinator, David Conellan even treats us to a joke each week - its a good job David is a mobile mechanic as his stand up comedian skills need a lot of work!

If you haven't visited us before at Warriors BNI then please contact us today to arrange your visit. We have plenty categories open so you too could start to benefit from the business that is past at our meetings.

See you soon!

Thank you is a word which is so easy to say but can be severely under used, particularly in business. Ask yourself, when was the last time you said "thank you" to a client?

We may say thank you when they place on order with us but do we also say thank you when they pay us and we receive money.

At a BNI meeting there are many opportunities to say thank you to our colleagues around the table -
1. Thanking them when they give you a referral. Being appreciative of the work that they have done on your behalf and standing up, shaking their hand and saying the words "Thank you"
2. During our contribution section with a Testimonial. To write or express some words of gratitude and thanks for some business done not only helps other members understand what they can do but also is a nice way of saying thank you to them for work they carried out for you.
3. Thank you for the Business Card Box - do we check the amount of business that our fellow BNI members pass us in the course of giving us referrals? What better way to say Thank you than to mark it on the card and pop it in the box. We may be surprised at how much this adds up to over time.

So next time you are doing some work with a BNI member, a friend, a colleague or a new company - don't forget to say Thank you!

Thank you for reading.

We had a fabulous visitors day on Wednesday 30th June at Sixways Stadium, home of the Warriors BNI group. With over 31 members in regular attendance we also had an extra 30 visitors in the room! With over 60 people in the room I was in a slight panic over how I was going to get through the agenda in the allotted time and finish as close to 8.30am as I could. However with some slick and subtle changes we managed it and everyone had a great morning.
We also managed to make use of some great technology to help so that everyone could hear and see what was going on. Many thanks to Mike Belham of TrueLight who provided a microphone we could pass round and also headsets for our key speakers during their presentations. The large screen and powerpoint also made for some interesting visuals for everyone to watch.
Thanks also to Sam at Paper Angel photography for being on hand to take some great images of the day - more of which can be seen in our photo gallery under the Regular Meetings tab.
We also had a great presentation on the power of BNI and collaboration from Neil Sysum, Chris Green and Jonathan Campbell.
I have received some great feedback from our visitors so well done to all the Warriors BNI members for a great effort in inviting visitors and for making the day fantastic.
